    @shylildude

better hope you flush it down with a higher water intake

awesome work mate! I was wondering what your thoughts are on l-Glutamine and a separate BCAA supp. I know protein powders are eventually broken down in BCAA but am still unclear as to why you would take a separate BCAA supp… cheers…

Hey Lee, great video. I’m 19 years old, I’ve been bodybuilding for one year, using eggs, meat, chicken, bread for my protein. I’m thinking of trying some whey protein shakes now. What do you think?

  • awhodatt

Lee, I use to take protein supplements about 12-15 years ago and the results were quick and impressive.

However, I found that the muscle I gained when doing so was not as “real” or authentic compared to when I just worked out and ate naturally.

I find that muscle gained the natural (harder and slower) way tends to last longer and feel better.

    Is this just my imagination.

I am back in the gym for the first time in years and my body is looking good – dont know if i should go pack to supps?

  • beeemdubya

Dude Lee I know these videos must be hard work but man they really are helpful. Please keep them coming.

  • Wizhix

@awhodatt i dont think there should be any difference cus its just protein that theyve taken out of normal food and made a “concentrated” powder off?

  • BestVideoResponse

    What about creatine?

  • awhodatt

@Wizhix I know – in theory there shouldnt be a difference – but honestly, I do see and feel a difference.

When I take protein shakes my muscles grow bigger at a faster rate, HOWEVER, I have noticed that if I happen to stop working out my muscles DISAPPEAR at a much faster and rather alarming rate when I have attained them using protein powder as opposed to “normal” foods.

Its as if protein powders “inflate” the body … and to stop using them is like sticking a pin in the body – *POOF!*

  • Wizhix

@awhodatt it sounds abit like kreatine but i dont think you know what u take, about the musclebuilding rate and loss, uhm when u use proteinpowder u maybe get the amount needed to build muscle and when u dont use it you dont eat enough or something? :P sorry for bad english im 16 from sweden, i dont know so much about this either i just say how it could be :P

@rammajamma1993 The protein shakes are food, in liquid form. Yes, you can have it before a workout.
I prefer solid food most of the time; and to workout on neither an empty stomach nor a full stomach.

    Good comprehensive information!

A year ago I took a body assessment test, and I told the lady that I was taking 1gram of PP per lb of bodyweight. She told me this was too much, and that it should be per kg of bodyweight. Thats quite a drastic cut in protein, so I wasn’t sure about what to believe. Of course I’m watching these bodybuilder training videos which showcase their diet to be quite high in protein, but of course they are pros.

Really Good Vids And Good Information Helped Me Alot

  • IMD14U2C

Great video. Very informative. Would like to know the brands that faired well (heavy metal survey). I am a 46 year old powerlifter and I use protein supplements to get the increased nutrient requirement when I am training for a meet. Keep up the good work!

  • christurkthebrave

@freddy692000 dude, a single slice of brown soda bread contains 1.3g of protein, and just 0.7g of fat.

  • NaplesYanqui

Lee, as always you have provided some good down to earth information. I think I can speak for most everyone here when I say thank you and please keep up the fine job you are doing to promote bodybuilding and fitness in general.

  • Chamilism

@rammajamma1993 You could, but then that’s 3 shakes, When you drink your protien, it;s usaully to put your body to an anabolic state, and your in a canobolic state when you wake wake up and after a workout.

  • freddy692000

@christurkthebrave and how many carbs that u didnt tell ~64% so i ll stick to my salmon eggs and chicken…

  • eduardopapi94

@rammajamma1993 you can take protein shake anytime of the day you dont got time for whole food but before and after wo is better imo
