Just curious….how long have you been weight/resistance training?

pull-ups are a back, lat and bicep exercise, not shoulders.

  • charliejames1975

You are wrong on this point. It works your shoulders as well.

pullups train lats and biceps most AND very little shoulder. its not an exercise for shoulders.

Maybe you are right but who’s the one with a great body?

Are you Russian? Anyway, I wanted to ask:
My mother has a frozen shoulder. She cannot move her arm full up. Is there perhaps a simple light exercise to fix that?

Pullups are for your back. The rear deltoids will be involved but I don’t know how you can say it’s a shoulder workout when you start w/ a back exercise. For your shoulders you’d do military press (or dumbbell presses)for the antterior deltoid, lateral raises for the medial deltoid, bent over lateral raises for the posterior deltoid. Upright rows and/or shrugs for the trapezius.

1Âșe. is for back no shoulders

In bodybuilding the muscles of the back, shoulder and chest are usually trained separately. However,it is impossible to isolate the muscles of the back, chest or shoulder.Execution of the military press involves the clavicular pectoralis major of the chest, anterior deltoid of the shoulder and the trapezius and serratus anterior muscles of the shoulder girdle. All of these muscles are prime movers for their actions. Thus you strongly involve chest, shoulder and back muslces in the military press.

Even that pull-ups are the best back development you can do and belong to the back exercises programm, the posterior deltoid is actually highly involved in the pull-ups,chin-ups and pull-downs just like biceps and chest. Believing that pull-ups are exercise only for your back is limited outlook that might be based maybe on some magazine article but not science. I don’t think that fitness professionals from ISSA would lie about this and I am learning from them.
